More Than Climate Neutral.

Since the production of the first bottle of BALIS, it has been important to us to preserve our environment and nature. We therefore produce BALIS exclusively at resource-saving or climate-neutral factories, have participated in the returnable deposit system since the beginning, work with regional partners on all aspects of the product and optimize delivery routes. We keep our ingredients as natural as possible and, of course, ecologically degradable packaging is used at trade fairs and events.

In addition, since 2021 we can proudly say that every product from BALIS is climate neutral! All CO2 emissions generated during regional production are compensated for all varieties and all sales sizes.

And that’s not all: BALIS is living up to its pioneering role, and that’s why it’s not enough for us that our products are “just climate neutral”. We want to give something back to our planet!

BALIS is therefore not only MORE than lemonade, but also MORE than climate neutral. We want to be climate positive. So whether it’s a bottle or a can – with every BALIS, not only are the emissions compensated (0.2-0.4kg of CO2 per bottle or can), we also round up the compensation amount to 1kg! That means on average we compensate 3 times the CO2 footprint!

This makes the enjoyment of BALIS even more unique, because in addition to the taste experience, something good is done for the environment and nature.

To determine the resulting CO2 emissions of our products, we are accompanied by the expert team of NatureOffice. Together we have calculated the individual “Product Carbon Footprint” for each variety and container. This value includes all CO2 emissions that occur along the product life cycle of each bottle of BALIS. This includes: all raw materials, as well as their processing, transport routes and energy expended during filling, during subsequent delivery, and return or recycling in the one-way and reusable systems.

NatureOffice helps us to offset this calculated footprint by supporting selected projects in the areas of climate protection and sustainability. All projects that we support with our compensation meet the highest requirements for transparent and social structural development. The CO2 is compensated by the reforestation of natural forests, environmentally friendly energy production (hydro, wind power, etc.) sustainable agriculture, forestry and much more. There is more information for each project below and at

Not only do we want to safe our planet and its people, also we want to point out and address particularly important issues. That’s why we take a regional and international approach to our projects – because here and in more distant regions, there is a lot to do! Let’s start something good together! Right now.

As a Munich-based company, we have a special connection to the mountain landscape and nature in the Alps. In the project Alps, the main focus is on maintaining the natural balance in alpine regions. In addition to the establishment of mixed mountain forests through redwood planting on areas cleared by storms and bark beetles. The main focus is on the particularly important rehabilitation of protection forests. Forest areas are indispensable in the mountains to keep the sensitive alpine ecosystem in balance and to protect it from erosion and avalanches. To counteract this, we are happy to get involved in forest ecology projects in the foothills of the Alps – so the mountain worlds on our doorstep remain as beautiful as we know them.

In addition to regional environmental protection, it is just as important to us to support international projects in developing and emerging countries. This is where climate change hits people and the environment hard in particular, and even simple measures can make a big difference!

By focusing our compensation to natural forest reforestation, in addition to climate protection activities, we are helping the TOGO project to implement facilities for energy generation and water supply, infrastructures for health and education, projects for sustainable agriculture and forestry, as well as self-sufficiency and market production in the local area. The project is strongly geared to local opportunities, the needs of the people in Togo, and the potential of the local habitat and effectively targets the areas, where a lot can be changed.
